Decreasing your Carnegie learning curve
so you can focus on what really matters

Carnegie Hacks are insights and tools to save you time and energy you can use to

advancing CE on your campus, instead. We post them every week, right here.

#27. Don't Delay May

This week we're covering our last topic that you don't want to go into summer without thinking through. We've already touched on measurement mechanisms, we've looked backward, we've looked forward, now we're going to look left and right, specifically at the colleagues working alongside us.

Topic 4: Other People's Calendars

Several application questions relate to other people's 2018-19 calendars.

Plans for next year are well underway. Community engagement ideas and requests will be far more welcome before their plans are already decided.

· For instance, if your campus could better represent community engagement in its marketing, then put yourself in the shoes of the marketing staff. They calendar much of their work well in advance. And sometimes the content of their work is tightly controlled. Make their lives easier by approaching them soon.

· Scan the application items and ask your team:

o Who makes these decisions?

o When will these decisions be finalized?

o How easy can we make it for them to say "yes" to a proposal?
